The Board of Water Commissioners, City and County of Denver, Colorado, which operates as Denver Water, distributes water to more than 1.3 million people in the Denver metropolitan area. The company serves some 1.2 million residential, commercial, and industrial customer accounts within the city and county, and it serves more than 175,000 suburban customers through retail and wholesale service contracts. The utility gets its water primarily from the Blue River and the South Platte River. Denver Water is an independently operated division of the City and County of Denver.
